If you’re in the market for a new set of headphones, Parker Hall just finished testing a bunch of new models and updated our rundown of the best wireless headphones, including best overall, the best for gamers, the best budget set, and more. It’s a great Q&A, and worth reading if you’re a Destiny player or just love the lore of the franchise. New contributor Saniya Ahmed chatted with Destiny universe lead concept artist Dima Goryainov at Bungie about how he gave the series’ big enemies, the Darkness, actual context and visual language in the game’s most recent expansion, The Witch Queen, and its upcoming expansion, Lightfall, coming at the end of this month. Eric Ravenscraft took it for a spin, and it’s a lot of fun! It’ll leave you wanting more though, so be warned, and we say that in the best possible way. Next up, earlier this week Blizzard unveiled Loverwatch, their Valentine’s Day, limited-time dating sim where you can romance some of the iconic characters from Overwatch 2 in a very Hades style mini game that’ll only take you about a half-hour to play through. Speaking of better options, if you’re looking to get your magic on but don’t want to buy that game or support it, consider Spellforce: Conquest of Eo, a turn-based strategy game that I’ve been enjoying immensely! Alternatively, consider the Trans Witches are Witches bundle here, a huge pack of magic- and fantasy-themed games, zines, music, and more from LGBTQ+ creators, for the same price as the wizard game. Give it a read, and whether you agree or disagree, try to sit with it for a while and understand that a better world is possible, if we’re willing to choose it. It’s a powerful read, and predictably riled up the worst corners of the internet-which we expected, but that only speaks to how important her voice in this truly is. I don’t want to spoil it by saying too much about what she’s written, but I will say it’s an intensely personal look at not just the game-which Jaina did indeed have a preview code for well in advance of launch-but also at the entire world that its creator has built and nourished, both on and offline. If you read anything this week, you have to read Jaina Grey’s 1/10 review of Hogwarts Legacy. Let’s get right into it this time, shall we? No preamble. Happy Wednesday, and welcome back to the WIRED Games newsletter! It’s been a very busy week over here, but all for good reasons.
